Transportation & Infrastructure
Opportunity:
Revise Kentucky’s transportation, transit and water related infrastructure investment strategies so that adequate and equitable investments are made in Northern Kentucky, one of the state’s major economic centers.
Approach:
- Base Kentucky’s road funding formula on a system that considers the number of vehicles using each road and the vehicle miles traveled on each road.
- Provide 20 percent state matching funds (approximately $15 million annually) for the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor.
- Develop a strategy to increase air service at CVG that will bring new business and recreational travels to our airport.
- Support sustainable funding for Northern Kentucky’s existing transit system and allow local governments, not the state, to set the amount of capped income subject to transit funding.
- Provide reliable funding solutions to address unfunded mandates and aging infrastructure repair/replacement and the associated construction of water, wastewater, and storm water infrastructure to reduce funding gaps and protect both the local economy and environment.
